Don’t let the place that you’re working at intimidate you before you even get there. Remind yourself that they chose to take on interns because they wanted interns and they chose you because they wanted you. And then just do your best from there. And that’s that’s all anybody expects from you.

I definitely wish I knew I was able to separate [work/school/life] responsibilities and how to effectively take them on.

[I’ve learned to] take time for myself, learn to say no, no matter how much I wanted to do a project just for my own mental health and know that the company will understand and that there will be other projects that will come by.

Emily Lang, Publishing 4+1 ’24

Rebecca Polsky, Sports Communication ’23

People are way more understanding than you think. They’ve been through this, they know how you’re feeling. Everything seems a little cutthroat and a little urgent, and it is a little bit urgent, but also, like, take a breath every once in a while. Like that’s totally okay.

Seren Cho, Media Arts Production ’23

Something that has been really helpful throughout my internship, thanks to studying journalism, is writing press releases. I want to make sure that I include [the who, what, when, where, and why] in the right parts of the press release, because I know that those are things that as a journalist I would look for.

Stephanie Trendell, Journalism ’25

“Never underestimate your abilities. Never. Like you don’t want to sell yourself short whenever you’re applying to a job interview or an internship or anything like that, because you can do it.”

Cassandra Maisonet, Journalism ’23

I think [work/life balance is] learning how to like, have fun still. Like in an ideal world, your work is fun and you love what you do. You should have something else that you love and think is fun to do as well.

Leni Paul, Comedic Arts ’24

Adaptability is really important, but with that, also trying super new things. You don’t really know until you try, especially with social media, and I think that’s really helpful.
