We recently had the pleasure of speaking with Emerson student, Ella Ward, to learn more about her awesome internship with Good Morning America. this Spring. Check out our full interview in the video below:

Questions:

How did you find your internship?

Ella found her internship on the Disney Careers website and applied right through there.

How long is your internship?

Ella started her internship on January 10th and it’s going until April 29.

Where is your internship taking place?

Ella’s internship is mainly virtual but she has been able to visit the Good Morning America studio in New York and do some work in person.

What is your daily routine like?

Ella goes to morning meetings at 10:45 AM where she discusses what the daily show is going to look like. Then she gets emails throughout the day from producers who will give her various tasks to do such as logging interviews and finding different videos to cover. She is also able to produce her on pieces on the weekends.

What’s your favorite part of your internship?

Ella enjoys working with all of the different producers and watching how they put their pieces together. She also has been able to go to the studio a few times and sit in the control room while the show airs live.

What is something you wish you learned before taking on this internship

Ella wishes she learned how to stick up for herself a little more. She has since learned that if there is something she wishes to do she has to reach out to her supervisors and ask them to let her do it.

What are some essential skills someone in your field should have?

Ella values good writing and being able to tell a visual story.

Why did you decide to take this internship?

It was Ella’s dream to work for one of the major TV networks so taking an internship with ABC was a no brainer for her.
