My name is Evan Gillis, I am currently a Sophomore Marketing and Communications Major at Emerson. I first heard of New Wave Boston Real Estate via LionHire. I knew nothing about the company or the real estate industry, but they were looking for a marketing intern and I knew I needed to jump on every internship opportunity I could get my hands on.
When I scored the position, I was soon catapulted into the complexity of the Boston real estate market. I was challenged to be innovative and think of creative strategies to set the company apart from all of the other real estate agencies. On social media, conducting weekly marketing tasks, and engaging with cold leads are all a part of the job! Often, I spent time with other interns spearheading campaigns to engage with our target demographic, students in Boston! Conducting contests, social media engagement, and limited advertisement campaigns; our main goal is to expand the brand and expand our relationship with clients in unique ways.
In my marketing classes we discuss “blue ocean strategies”, thinking creatively, as well as experimenting/applying ideas using market research. I have applied all of the lessons discussed in class and used them to my work at New Wave. I was forced to dichotomize branding and advertising, but use both to my advantage. It has not only enriched my academic experience, but also provided me with numerous opportunities to expand my understanding and knowledge of the rapidly changing marketing industry.
Any Marketing or Communications student should absolutely jump on this unique opportunity!
Be sure to apply soon!
