Payal Kumar Avellan, Class of 1999, has taken many paths in her career. The first one was in broadcasting, then in nonprofit communication, along with a non-successful run at city government, which is a feat of its own.
Even though Payal was one of the few AAPI women in my class of 1999, she felt Emerson set me up for success in a myriad of ways – most of which was being seen and valued for who I am, something I didn’t feel much in school until I got to Emerson.
