First, we’d like to thank everyone who made it to yesterday’s Internship & Career Fair. The Fair was our most successful yet, and we’re truly thrilled that we saw so many of you!
If you couldn’t make it, don’t worry! You can click here to see all the internships and jobs that employers at the fair have posted. We have a ton more great events coming up and an incredible list of internships and jobs available. Watch your email to hear about the latest opportunities.
Now, before you turn your attention to a much-deserved break this weekend, there are a few things you should do to set yourself up for success!
Here’s the top three:
1. Organize
Your first step is to take the contact information you got from employers yesterday and spend some time sifting through it. You can turn this information into a resource for yourself to keep track of jobs/internship applications or to maintain a list of networking contacts. I like to use an Excel spreadsheet, but consider tacking business cards to a cork board, drawing a chart in a notebook, or adding contacts and reminders to your phone instead. Be sure to keep track of who you spoke to, what company, their contact information, what you discussed, and what opportunities are available.
2. Follow- Up (within 24 hours!)
Now that you’ve refreshed your memory about who you talked to, draft up some email follow-up messages. Be sure to provide any additional materials the employer asked for, thank them for their time, and reference anything specific that you talked about to help them remember you. Use an appropriate email and double check for spelling and grammar mistakes. This is a professional interaction, so treat it that way.
3. Apply
Once the emails are sent, apply to the positions you are interested in if you haven’t already. Make sure you’ve followed all application instructions!
If questions come up, come visit us Monday through Friday 1- 3pm or call 617-824- 8586 to make an appointment. We are happy to help! Getting in touch with Career Services will be especially helpful for anyone who was unable to attend the fair!
Be sure to attend the workshop coming up on Tuesday for an in-depth discussion on following up with employers. Click here to RSVP!
Thanks again for a GREAT fair!
