Izzy Hobbib is just one of several Emerson alumni that have started their professional careers by working at Horizon Media. After graduating from Emerson last May with a degree in Marketing Communications, she is now one of the Assistant Strategists for the Out of Home Department. What does her job entail? Working for the Out of Home department, Izzy is responsible for traditional advertising that is found outside of the home. This includes mediums such as digital billboards, cinema advertisements, and transportation ads. Working on the accounts of large clients such as Sleep Number, Sirius XM, and Hyundia/Kia, Izzy has gained a lot of hands-on experience in researching, planning, and collaborating with different teams.
What kind of advice does Izzy have for upcoming graduates? “Don’t get frustrated while looking for a job, be patient, and be open-minded.” After graduating, Izzy was caught between wanting to work in television or working for an ad agency. After spending some time working at Comedy Central this past summer, she found that it might not have been the best fit. Izzy did however discover a passion for media, and working with cutting edge technology to be at the forefront of whatever happened to be the next big thing in the tech community. This is what led her to apply for positions at media agencies. It may not have been the path she had originally started last summer, but with the knowledge she gained from Emerson, her passion of media, and a work environment that focuses on collaboration and excellence, she has excelled at Horizon Media and set the foundations for future career success.
