Make the Most of a Virtual Fair

While this year’s fair may not offer the opportunity for making an in-person impression, there are plenty of ways to network and connect with this year’s employers. To help guide your efforts, our office has put together some simple recommendations of how to make the most of this semester’s virtual fair:

  • We encourage you to review the Fair Resource Folder for more information on For-Credit Internships, Online Job Searches, and International Student Resources.
  • Learn more about employers by visiting their Handshake Employer Profile. This provides info about who the employer is, what kind of opportunities they’re recruiting for, and who you may get in touch with from their staff. And remember to update your Handshake profile so employers can learn about your most up-to-date experience.
  • Dive deeper by finding Employers via LinkedIn. You’ll find similar information to what is available on Handshake with the added benefit of being able to connect with and contact recruiters and alumni at these companies. Remember to consult the Professional Communication Guide if you have questions about how to reach out. (As a reminder, you can look up specific companies and which Emerson alumni work there via LinkedIn’s Emerson College school page.)
  • Plan your outreach by connecting with our office in a phone or video appointment. Our office remains open throughout the Spring semester and we’re pleased to support any networking you may want to pursue. (We can also review your LinkedIn profile and the best ways to contact alumni at specific companies.)
  • Review our Resumes Resources in advance of submitting an application. You may also submit your Resume and/or Cover Letter for an Online Review using our Resume/Cover Letter Review Form. Feedback should be provided within the next week or so.
