Emerson alumna Maddie Breeland ’12 contacted our office to make us aware of an exciting new opportunity launched by Women Wednesday, an organization set on empowering and elevating female filmmakers:
“The BIPOC Next Gen Mentorship Program in association with Women Wednesday seeks to bolster Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in the decision-making rooms of our industry. We want to focus on the people who will one day make the decision about who gets to make their art: the executives, producers, agents, and managers in film, television, and theater. We will match a BIPOC rising college senior or someone of any age recently entering the industry who is interested in development, production, or representation, with mentors who have been in the industry between 3 and 6 years. Mentors will serve as an ally and will ensure that their mentee is set up and equipped to succeed in this industry.”

Students and recent grads interested in this opportunity are able to apply as early as today, before the program’s deadline of Monday, August 17th. Mentee eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Must be a rising college senior or someone who has recently (1-2 yrs) entered the industry
- Must be BIPOC
- Must intend to move, or live in LA or NY
- Must be interested in the exec/agent/manager track of the industry
- This is a Women Wednesday initiative but all sexual orientations and gender identities (SOGI)
