As a parent of an Emerson student, we understand that you want to see your student achieve their career goals, and we are here to help them do so. One of the best ways for you to help is by encouraging them to come in to see us. Read on to learn the variety of programs and resources we have to help students:

Career Design Pathways

This program was created to help provide students with a framework for designing their career. We provide suggestions for students to complete each year to help them contribute to their career goals. The Pathways also helps to show how things like student clubs and organizations, classes, and other activities can all be part of their career development. We have also developed an interactive method for students to view detailed information about each path and recommendation, as well as to track the items they have completed. We hope that students won’t go it alone – encourage your student to schedule a Career Design appointment with us, where we can make personalized recommendations for their career goals.

CareerBuzz

CareerBuzz offers students a wealth of career-related information, right at their fingertips. We have a vast resource library, with information on everything from how to write a resume to interviewing and networking. We also have a blog which often highlights exciting resources, programs, and events, as well as offers interviews with employers or alumni. CareerBuzz also features jobs and internships, as well as provides a comprehensive listing of upcoming career-related events.

Handshake

On Handshake, students can search for jobs and internships related to their industry of interest. They can also schedule appointments with us. Appointments – As mentioned above, we strongly encourage your student to meet with us so we can personalize our advice to their specific interests and goals. In addition to appointments, we also over walk-in hours from 1-3pm on weekdays when classes are in session.

Online Resume Checkup

Another way for students to receive quick advice on a resume is by submitting to our online resume checkup, where we will send them detailed feedback within 2 days.

We hope this is helpful — and we also hope to meet your student soon! For more information on ways you can get involved to help both your student as well as others, please check out our Parent Page.
