Helen Schultz ’16 graduated from Emerson’s Writing, Literature & Publishing program this past May. In September, she was hired as a Digital Marketing Assistant for Capacity Interactive, a position that allowed her to express her passion for the arts while simultaneously helping to build her skills as a digital marketing professional. In her role, Helen manages accounts in the arts sector, meaning that she works to increase the digital presence of clients such as area museums and the Boston Ballet through online advertisements and social media. After working with several of their clients in the past (such as ArtsEmerson and Broadway Across America), applying to Capacity Interactive was an easy choice for Helen. With it’s open-minded team, fun office environment and the chance for her to explore a newfound interest in digital marketing, Helen was set up to succeed.
At Emerson, Helen devoted much of her time working to grow as a professional. She worked for ArtsEmerson, had various internships in the performing arts industry, became a Staff Assistant for Emerson’s HowlRound.com, and visited Career Services for resume reviews and general career advice.
But one of the biggest secrets to her success? Networking within the Emerson community. “The Emerson Community is full of intelligent students,” says Helen. She went on to explain that talking to upperclassmen and looking up to them as mentors, has also helped her grow both personally and professionally. Even as a recent graduate, Helen felt she had a network of incredibly talented peers that have helped her get to where she is today at Capacity Interactive.
