Looking for your start in local news? Sinclair Broadcast Group has got you covered with over 193 local stations looking for you and other aspiring young journalists to start with their team.
SBG is responsible for roughly 40% of local news reporting in American households with the majority of their stations based in South and Midwest markets. But don’t be mistaken — despite their success in local news, Sinclair is also branching out into additional journalism markets, including Circa News, Sinclair’s online news and entertainment service targeted toward a younger, predominantly millennial audiences.
The Career Development Center has historically hosted exclusive on-campus interviews for Sinclair to help connect news-focused students with opportunities that can serve as a launch point for a career in journalism. This year, our office is collecting resumes for several entry-level positions with Sinclair, including positions in:

- Daniela Jusino is a National Social Media Coordinator who oversees several of Sinclair Broadcast Group’s 70+ news operation’s social media storytelling. She is currently based out of Sinclair’s corporate offices in the Baltimore suburb of Hunt Valley, Maryland. Daniela started as a Digital Content Producer at Sinclair’s KTVL in Medford, Oregon and, via Sinclair’s unique Upward Mobility program, she went from Boston…to Medford, Oregon…to Baltimore…in less than two years!
- Rosalia Fodera was a reporter at Sinclair’s WPDE ABC 15 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina after interviewing with SBG’s recruiting team a while ago. She has since been hired away by a station in Raleigh, North Carolina, but Sinclair hopes to work with her in the future.

Upward Mobility is an internal database that all of Sinclair’s news hiring managers have access to and it has helped several of our on-camera and off-camera journalists to move from one market to another within our company
It is open to all journalists within Sinclair / Circa, regardless of whether they are on-air or off-air like newscast producers, photographers, digital journalists, etc.
- After you have been employed at one of Sinclair / Circa’s news operations for at least 12 months, you are then eligible to start looking for other news jobs at markets where we have digital news operations…as long as…
- You are transparent with your Sinclair / Circa news director / news manager about wanting to advance your career in our company.
- You must still apply for jobs within Sinclair / Circa that you are interested in and there is a possibility you may not get hired, which is why Upward Mobility is not a transfer program.
- Since June 2015, there have been at least 200 cases where our journalists have advanced their careers within our company via Upward Mobility.
- If you go from one Sinclair news operation to another, your employment benefits (un-used vacation / sick time…medical / dental insurance coverage…retirement plan, etc.) would move with you and would continue to grow un-interrupted
