We’re almost two months into using Handshake! Since our early Summer launch, we’ve seen some pretty awesome things going on – things like students getting engaged with employers, a huge and impressive influx of employers and jobs/internships coming in, as well as the launch of our Emerson Connections system. We’re excited to watch this system grow more and more as students continue to really own this as the definitive resource from Career Services.

But we’re also excited to see how Handshake evolves to meet your needs. And that’s why we’re excited to share this news:

Starting on August 24th, the Student experience of Handshake will have a major overhaul intended to make your life a lot easier. First, the student dashboard (your ‘home’ page) will undergo a design shift that’s geared to provide you less with individual opportunities and more with collections of opportunities arranged by your interest and your specific experience. For example, jobs will now be categorized by sections like Jobs Near You, Jobs Popular for Your Major, and Jobs for Students with Profiles Similar to You. Take a look below:

All of this is based on the information and experience you put into your profile so, remember, get active in Favoriting jobs, filling out your profile, and defining your Career Interests!

Second, Handshake is also launching a more sophisticated app for iOS. There’s a current app which essentially pulls from the Handshake website but, in the next week or so, we’ll have something that is far more user/phone friendly. It will provide you with easier navigation and access to all of the resources you’d find on the desktop version.

Take a look at what the mobile application will look like on the right.

We’ll have more information to come but, in the meantime, update you Handshake profile and keep up on your search for Fall internships!
